I’m Aminata Wodiou, from Idieli Douh, in the township of Dourou. My father is a local mason and my mother is a housewife.
Grâce à sa persévérance, une boursière soutient les besoins de sa communauté en matière de couture
Je suis Aminata Wodiou, je suis de Idieli Douh, dans la commune de Dourou. Actuellement j’habite à Bandiagara avec mes parents, mon père est un maçon local et ma mère est ménagère.
J’ai abandonné l’école en 2009 étant en 4ème année du premier cycle suite à une maladie au niveau de mon pied.
J’ai été hospitalisée et en traitement pendant 5 ans à Idieli Douh chez ma grand-mère maternelle. Cette maladie m’a rendu handicapée au niveau de mon pied car je boitte.
Après je suis venue à Bandiagara chez mes parents afin de pouvoir trouver une solution pour me mettre à jour dans mes études perdues.
C’est à partir de là que j’ai profondément réfléchi à devenir un tailleur pour apporter ma connaissance et savoir-faire à ma famille et celle de ma communauté.
En 2022, j’ai entendu parler du programme de bourses de la Fondation Tandana, j’ai pris directement contact avec le personnel de la Fondation Tandana pour postuler ma candidature à cette bonne initiative.
J’ai été recrutée en 2023 pour la formation en coupure et couture dans le programme de bourses de la Fondation Tandana.
Vu ma situation d’ handicapée, chaque matin pour regagner mon centre de coupure et couture c´était difficile parce que je marche lentement. Cependant, je me levais tôt le matin pour gagner le centre avant l’heure.
Après les 9 mois de formation théorique et pratique en coupure et couture, j’étais parmi les meilleurs boursiers de cette promotion.
Pendant la cérémonie de remise des attestations et les matériaux d’installation de l’atelier de coupure et couture, le représentant de la Fondation Tandana a expliqué clairement que, dans l’approche de Tandana, chaque bénéficiaire doit obligatoirement ouvrir son propre atelier de coupure et couture pour répondre à leurs propres besoins ainsi que ceux de la communauté.
Au départ, il y avait une petite difficulté pour ouvrir mon atelier de coupure et couture après que la Fondation m’a remis les matériels et équipements car chez mon papa il y’avait pas de magasin pour installer mon matériel. Mais avec courage j’ai continué à travailler chaque matin et soir s’installant ma machine à coudre sous un arbre pour coudre les habits.
Après une année d’activités de coupure et couture sous un arbre, j’ai pu économiser environs 100 000f CFA et directement j’ai pensé à construire un petit magasin pour mon atelier. C’est ainsi que, avec cette somme, j’ai fait confectionner des briques en banco pour la construction du magasin et acheter quelques feuilles de tôles.
Comme mon papa est un maçon local, il m’a aidé à construire un petit magasin où je suis aujourd’hui avec tous mes matériaux de coupure et couture.
Je suis membre du groupe d’ateliers de production des kits sanitaires des femmes à Bandiagara.
C’est grâce aux initiatives du programme de bourses de la Fondation Tandana que je ne sens pas marginalisée.
Mon atelier de coupure et couture me sert à répondre à mes besoins et aux besoins de la communauté en coupure et couture.
A travers mon atelier de coupure et couture, chaque année, j’arrive à donner un appui des frais de fourniture et des petits cadeaux à mon homonyme qui est au village.
Aujourd’hui, mon ambition est d’agrandir mon atelier de coupure et couture et avoir un engin roulant pour les handicapés.

Through perseverance, a scholarship recipient is supporting her community’s tailoring needs
I’m Aminata Wodiou, from Idieli Douh, in the township of Dourou. My father is a local mason and my mother is a housewife.
I dropped out of school in 2009 when I was in my 4th year of primary school due to an ailment in my foot.
I was hospitalized and treated for five years at my maternal grandmother’s house in Idieli Douh. This illness left me with a disability in my foot, and because of it, I limp.
Then I came to Bandiagara to live with my parents, so that I could find a solution after having to drop out of school.
From there I began to think deeply about becoming a tailor, to bring my knowledge and know-how to my family and community.
In 2022, when I heard about The Tandana Foundation’s scholarship program, I contacted The Tandana Foundation staff directly to apply for this worthwhile initiative.
I was recruited in 2023 for training in tailoring in The Tandana Foundation´s scholarship program.
Because I have a disability, it was difficult to get to my tailoring center every morning because I walk slowly. However, I would get up early in the morning to get to the center ahead of time.
After nine months of theory and practical training in tailoring, I was one of the best scholarship holders in the class.
During the ceremony to present the certificates and the working material for the tailoring workshop, The Tandana Foundation representative made it clear that, in the Tandana approach, it is mandatory for each beneficiary to open their own tailoring workshop to meet their own needs as well as those of their community.
At first, there was a little difficulty in opening my tailoring workshop after the foundation had given me the materials and equipment, because there was no room at my father´s house to set up my equipment. But, with courage, I continued to work every morning and evening, setting up my sewing machine under a tree to sew clothes.
After a year of tailoring under a tree, I was able to save around 100,000f CFA and immediately thought of building a small room for my workshop. So, with this sum, I had some mud bricks made for the room and bought some sheet metal.
As my father is a local mason, he helped me build a small storehouse where I am today with all my tailoring materials.
I’m a member of the women’s menstrual kit production workshop group in Bandiagara.
It’s thanks to the efforts of The Tandana Foundation’s scholarship program that I don’t feel marginalized.
My tailoring workshop enables me to meet my needs and the needs of the community in terms of tailoring.
Every year, through my tailoring workshop, I manage to support my namesake in the village with the cost of supplies and small gifts.
Today, my ambition is to expand my tailoring workshop and have a wheelchair for those who have a disability.

Gracias a su perseverancia, una becaria apoya las necesidades de sastrería de su comunidad
Me llamo Aminata Wodiou y soy de Idieli Douh, en la comuna de Dourou. Mi padre es albañil y mi madre ama de casa.
Dejé la escuela en 2009, cuando cursaba 4º de primaria, por una enfermedad en el pie.
Estuve hospitalizado y recibí tratamiento durante 5 años en casa de mi abuela materna en Idieli Douh. La enfermedad me dejó coja.
Entonces vine a Bandiagara a quedarme con mis padres para poder encontrar una solución que me permitiera ponerme al día con mis estudios perdidos.
Fue entonces cuando empecé a pensar en convertirme en sastre, para aportar mis conocimientos y habilidades a mi familia y a mi comunidad.
En 2022, oí hablar del programa de becas de la Fundación Tandana, y me puse en contacto directamente con el personal de la Fundación para solicitar esta valiosa iniciativa.
En 2023 me contrataron para recibir formación en corte y confección en el marco del programa de becas de la Fundación Tandana.
Como soy discapacitada, me resultaba difícil llegar al centro de corte y confección todas las mañanas porque camino despacio. Sin embargo, solía levantarme temprano por la mañana para llegar al centro con antelación.
Tras 9 meses de formación teórica y práctica en corte y confección, fui una de las mejores becarias del año.
Durante la ceremonia de entrega de los certificados y los materiales para montar el taller de corte y costura, el representante de la Fundación Tandana explicó claramente que, según el enfoque de Tandana, cada beneficiario debe abrir su propio taller de corte y confección para satisfacer sus propias necesidades y las de la comunidad.
Al principio, me costó un poco abrir mi taller de corte y confección después de que la Fundación me diera los materiales y el equipo, porque en casa de mi padre no había lugar para instalar mi equipo. Pero con valentía seguí trabajando cada mañana y cada tarde, instalando mi máquina de coser bajo un árbol para coser ropa.
Después de un año cortando y cosiendo bajo un árbol, pude ahorrar unos 100.000 francos CFA e inmediatamente pensé en construir un pequeño espacio para mi taller. Así que, con ese dinero, mandé hacer unos ladrillos de banco para construir el taller y compré unas chapas.
Como mi padre es albañil, me ayudó a construir un pequeño local donde estoy hoy con todos mis materiales de corte y confección.
Soy miembro del grupo de mujeres de los talleres de producción de kits sanitarios de Bandiagara.
Gracias a las iniciativas del programa de becas de la Fundación Tandana, no me siento marginada.
Mi taller de corte y confección me ayuda a cubrir mis necesidades y las de la comunidad en materia de corte y confección.
Cada año, a través de mi taller de corte y confección, consigo ayudar a sufragar los gastos de suministros y pequeños regalos a mi tocaya del pueblo.
Hoy, mi ambición es ampliar mi taller de corte y confección y tener una silla de ruedas para discapacitados.
